Swimming & Potty Training

Laney absolutely loves to swim! She was in the pool for almost 2 hours straight on Friday night. However, she drank a lot of pool water, so we were rushing her to the bathroom every few minutes. She is just newly potty trained, so she still waits until the extreme last second before telling us that she needs to go. You can see evidence of her potty dance at the end of this video. What a funny fish!

Dress Up!

My brother, Evan, called me a few weeks ago about a garage sale in his neighborhood with a bunch of princess stuff. I drove down and found a bunch of Disney princess dress up gowns. The lady was so cool and asked what I wanted them for. When I explained that my 2 year old was obsessed with the princesses, she gave me the entire lot (dresses & accessories + a bag) for $10. Delaney wears her dresses all day everyday (except when we leave the house) and has actually been pretty good about keeping them in the dress up box when she takes them off. Now we have Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, & Ariel. I know we have Snow White in another box somewhere, but I maybe I hid it so well I can't find it on purpose???

The downside to all of this is that her hair is constantly tangled because it gets messed up with all the different dresses and tiaras going on and off her little head. Laney also has no qualms about mixing Ariel's wedding veil with Cinderella's ball gown. Why look like just one princess, when you can pretend to be 3 at once! Here are some pictures of Cinderella (formerly known as Delaney Lynn).

Delaney's First Web Video

I just remembered that I can actually record video on my digital camera. This evening, we were just hanging out on the deck and I decided to do some mini-interviews with the kids. Delaney had a pretty dirty face as she had been playing outside for a while and she had just taken her pigtails out. I don't let her go out in public like this, but I guess it's ok to post her on the world wide web looking like this....

Up to Date on Beauty & Fashion

I always keep "smut" magazines in the car for the occasions when I go donate blood or am waiting on to pick up a child from one activity or another. Apparently, the other day as we were driving somewhere, Delaney found one and began flipping through it. I looked back and just started cracking up! It looked so funny to me that my 2 year old was flipping through a beauty & fashion magazine as if she totally knew how to read and what was going on! That girl always has me cracking up!

Laney's Wet N' Wild Summer

So, I've been trying just to keep up with the family blog and haven't had a chance to update Laney's blog. So the guilt has finally won out and here is a short update. Delaney spent the majority of her summer in the water...the pool, lake, bathtub...pretty much anywhere she could find water. She actually wore out a few of her "babing soups" and outgrew one of her lifejackets (she is thrilled with her new Barbie "chzaket"). These are just a few pics of our water baby.

This is in the "water hole" at our family reunion which was held in the White Mountains of Arizona. Laney also met her newest cousin, baby Trent. She LOVED him!

This is my personal favorite! Delaney finally began to swim around the pool on her own! She wanted to wear goggles like her siblings and ended up looking like the creature of the blue lagoon!

Since Delaney doesn't even know what a blog is, let alone how to post on one, I will be updating this blog in her behalf from time to time. Delaney is the youngest of 5 children. She is totally the princess and pretty much gets whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. She loves to watch movies and her current favorites are all of the Disney princess movies and Willow. She is a fish and loves the water. She also likes to have tea parties and loves to have books read to her. She loves her cabbage patch baby doll (which is evidenced by how dirty it always is) and she likes to get her hair done by her Aunt Courtnee.

She is also extremely opinionated and has to decide what she is going to wear and what she will or will not eat. She always says thank you, but forgets to ask with please!

She is named after her maternal grandfather (middle name Lynn) and is spoiled rotten by him. She is getting pretty good about figuring out directions in the car and knows where we are going most of the time. When we go out to eat, she will only eat "shies" (fries to the rest of us).

This is a little about my favorite 2 year old. I'm so glad that we were able to add darling Delaney to our family! She is so much fun!
